Gur-Emir mausoleum (XIV-XV centuries). One of the best architectural monuments of Central Asia, the family tomb of the Timurid dynasty on the male line. The elegance, clarity of proportions, the beauty of the interior decoration put this mausoleum on a par with the masterpieces of world architecture.
Registan square (XV-XVII centuries). It is located in the center of Samarkand. In ancient times, this name was given to the main square of the cities of the Middle East, but the Samarkand Registan is the most famous of all. On its territory there is an ensemble consisting of three architectural monuments: Ulugbek madrasah (1417 - 1420), Sherdor madrasah (1619 - 1636) and Tillya-Kari madrasah (1646 - 1660). Three madrasahs, which make up a unique ensemble, are one of the brightest buildings of the greatest Persian architecture. Since 2001, along with other ancient buildings of Samarkand, it is included in the UNESCO world heritage List.
There is hardly a place in the world where a Muslim, a Christian and a Jew would come to pray. But there is such a place in Samarkand – it is the grave of St. Doniyar (Daniel, Daniel). This mausoleum, being far from other attractions of Samarkand, attracts a huge number of pilgrims of many Nations and religions. But you do not have to be a believer to feel the peace and tranquility of this place.
The Ulugbek Observatory (1424-1428) was built by Ulugbek, Tamerlane's grandson, on Kuhak hill near Samarkand. During the reign of Ulugbek Samarkand became one of the centers of science, as he was an educated and talented scientist. Most of his works, which spread throughout Europe, India and China, were created in this Observatory.
Shahi-Zinda ensemble (XII-XV centuries). The ensemble began to form in the middle of the XI century., the construction of the complex was completed in the early XIX century. 25 buildings of the ensemble – mausoleums, mosques, madrassas – give an idea not only about the development of architectural forms, but also about the evolution of facing ceramics. Therefore, many researchers call the ensemble a "creative laboratory". And one of the contemporaries wrote: "...and the heavens opened the eyes of admiration on the face of the era: they have never seen buildings so decorated and elegant."
Inspection Of Bibi Khanum mosque (XV century) outside. Built by order of Temur in 1404 After his victorious campaign in India, it became the main Friday mosque of Samarkand and the largest in the East. The grandiose portal, decorated with carved marble housed the panels of the gate, which were reinforced with an alloy of seven metals (gold and silver inclusive). But, unfortunately, after completion of construction of the mosque began to collapse and by the XVIII century, the mosque was already lying in ruins. In 2004, a Grand building was renovated.
And also have time to run to the Siab Bazaar – the largest and oldest Bazaar in Samarkand. Under the huge dome there are many pavilions where you can buy not only essential goods, but also various gifts and Souvenirs.
